How does the competition work?
Students are invited to create games, movies, or interactive stories in the Scratch programming language. To encourage widespread participation, the project requirements are kept minimal meaning that a participating student could effectively make anything they come up with. Instead, a panel of judges evaluate and grade submissions based on two criteria detailed below.

Note: for students that find the competition's openness overwhelming, several example projects which can be used as the foundation for submissions can be found under project modules in the resources section.
CRITERIA
Technical Proficiency
What technical skills are demonstrated by the project? This can, for example, be displayed through:

-
The use of several types of blocks, especially control, sensing, operator, variables, and custom blocks.
-
The incorporation of music and sound effects that enhance the tone and immersion of the experience.
-
The integration of sprites and backgrounds with a clear aesthetic theme.
Creativity
How compelling is the core concept of the project? Consider the following pointers:

-
Opt for developing an original game rather than rehashing an existing one.
-
Create something that aligns with your unique interests which your peers might not have thought of.
-
Put an interesting new twist onto a pre-existing concept.
THE SUBMISSION PROCESS
If you wish to submit a project for the competition, please ensure that it is sent before the 8th of May. Teachers can submit up to three projects per class, chosen either by the teacher or the class as a whole. Submissions must be in the form of an email containing a publicly accessible link to the project, which should be sent to inlamning.coders@risingscholarssweden.org. To differentiate submissions, use the following email subject format:
<Name of School>, <Name of Class>, <Student number>.

Note: Student names should not be included. Instead, the teacher should assign each submission a number between 1 and 3 for all communication with the Rising Coders. An example of a valid submission subject is:

International School of Helsingborg, 6B, 2.
